The Church of Porquera is dedicated to Santa Maria de la O and is basically the eighteenth century, with a Gothic portal of the XV. We can say that it recognizes at least three styles, Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance, which correspond to the different construction stages through which it has been happening over the years, to expand the spaces of worship. From its Romanesque origins there are only a few simple corbels, ashlars and the baptismal font.nnIt has an estimable Gothic portal adorned with archivolts. Above the vertex of the archivolts, in a square ashlar, a rustic relief was carved with the representation of the Virgin carrying the Child on her left knee.nnThe tower, of two bodies, rises on a portico and in it it appears that in 1753 Don Juan Terán Cossío was parish priest.nnIt also has a beautiful Gothic window from the 15th century.nnAt the foot of the Church appear ashlars with lapidary signs that belonged to the primitive temple.n nThe interior is articulated under ribbed vaults, of ogival style like those of the 13th century, including that of the entrance portico on which the square tower is built.nnThere is a beautiful plateresque altarpiece, with tables that were magnificent in their time. An Annunciation and a Miracle of San Cosme and San Damián (patrons of Covarrubias) stand out.nThe floor is made of stone and with numerous numbered tombs that for years served for burials of the inhabitants of the place.nThe altar was presided over by a magnificent image of Santa Bárbara that is currently in one of the sides of the Church and a Virgin of the O, Gothic that unfortunately has disappeared. The pieces that are currently preserved are copies of the originals.nThe Romanesque baptismal font is very similar to that of the neighboring town of Villarén. It is made by a local master in the thirteenth century and has a glass ornamented by a series of semicircular arches that rest in a frieze of semicircles.
