Juan Manuel Donoso Gómez (05/01/2020)
Joaquín Baldomero Fernández-Espartero Álvarez de Toro (Granátula de Calatrava, February 21, 1793-Logroño, January 8, 1879), generally known as General Espartero, is one of the most important figures of the 19th century in the history of Spain . It is born in the small house near its equestrian monument. Son of a carpenter with certain studies, nephew of a surgeon and close to a university training academy, he will have basic studies in Gránatula until he was 14 years old to start his university studies in Almagro, where he already had a brother as a friar. The outbreak of the War of Independence against the French (1808) will change the course of his life. He enlisted in the army and quickly obtained promotions and forged a dizzying military career. After the war ended, he enlisted the armies of America to avoid their emancipation and almost died at the hands of the armies of Bolívar. In America he stood out for his courage on the battlefield for what was called Ayacuchos, but also for his diplomatic skills. Its importance will come during the first Carlist War (1833-1840), resolving the conflict politically and militarily. This allowed him to gain enormous prominence in the political, civil, military and economic life of the country until almost his death, where he became President of the Government, Regent (1840-1843), Minister of War, whose culmination will be the offering of the throne. from Spain, which he rejected. His progressive ideas have left us a very important legacy that continues to this day in many of the foundations of the current State.nnSCHEDULE: SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS AND HOLIDAYS AFTER THE VISIT TO THE ORETO DEPOSIT.nThe Espartero Cultural Center is located at Calle Duque de la Victoria, 7nGENERAL TICKET PRICE: € 1.5.
