Un opinante diletante (10/07/2020)
A good information center about the Ebro Delta. They also sell tickets for the Casa Museo de la fusta and it has a small shop with articles from the area
Marc Aguado i Jordana. (02/17/2020)
This construction is a faithful reproduction of what would be a typical house in the area, but much larger, to use the information point and shop of products of km0, and souvenirs. Located next to the Wood House or also called The House of Lords, The House of Wood is a refuge with museum functions that offers the visitor an ornithological sample and an exhibition where you can see the formation of the lagoons. Located near the Encanyissada lagoon, inside the house is an ornithological museum that exhibits an important collection of the most important species of wildlife of the Delta de l'Ebre, which is formed for 182 specimens from 134 different species, representative of the different ecosystems in the area. It is a prefabricated house that stands half a meter above the ground using small concrete pillars. Its structure is rectangular, and consists of ground floor and first floor. On the ground floor we find the central door with a triangular eaves of flat tile and access stairs. And the interior is completely lined with wood. Very close to the House of Wood we find a viewpoint from where you can see and contemplate the magnificence of the lagoon of the Encanyissada, its vegetation, and the fauna. History The owners of the house were three well-wishers in Barcelona, very interested in water birds, who created a hunting society in 1926, and who, through a ten-year lease and lease payment, obtained the necessary authorization to hunt in the Encanyissada lagoon. That is why they needed housing in the Delta for the hunting season. But because they did not have land in the Delta, they brought the Wooden House from Canada, which meant a significant financial cost of 350,000 pesetas. In a popular Canadian style, the House of Wood served as a refuge for hunters. The concession was renewed, for ten years, until 1966, when the Ministry of Culture (State Forestry Heritage) assumed the protection of lagoons and at the same time managed the heritage of the Casa de Fusta. During the Civil War it was inhabited by people from the Delta. In 1978 it became available to the state, being the Tancada and the Encanyissada called "Coto Nacional del Delta del Ebro", with the ICONA as its manager. In 1980 it passed into the hands of the Generalitat de Catalunya, within the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (Natural Environment). And since 1986, it has been part of the Ebro Delta Natural Park. Its image, a large wooden house painted green, with square windows with white wooden molding frames, and the four-sided roof with flat tile in the form of fish scales, has become characteristic of the Delta. of the Ebro.
