On January 29, 1915, the steps to prepare the project for a barracks in the Moat begin. A plot of 2,493 meters had been chosen at the place called Punta del Castellet, owned by Maria Boronat Ferrer married to Joaquín Querol Sanchis and both sold for 750 pesetas to the Police Corps. This land is already chosen "that said site meets excellent health and strategic conditions for the service and that the price required is the current in the locality." Finally, on July 2, 1915, the land is acquired for 795.95 pesetas, of which 45.95 correspond to 50% of the cost of registration. In 1922-23 the works begin and on September 26, 1923, the headquarters of the Alicante Engineer Commander Ramón Taisa is given to the captain of the Carabineros Corps Isaac Llopis belonging to the 6th Comandancia de Alicante. After the Spanish Civil War, in 1940 the Carabineros Corps disappears and becomes integrated into the Civil Guard, then passing this building to depend on the Civil Guard. In 1966 on the occasion of the reorganization of the Civil Guard they made up the force of the Pit headquarters, 6 guards and 2 capes under the command of a sergeant. In 1968 some improvements are made such as the installation of drinking water. To date, the guards were filled with water from the so-called Pou dels Mariners, very close to the barracks. From that date the staff of the Trench becomes dependent on the Commander of Calpe Post. It currently has a citizen service office, which opens only in summer.
