Very beautiful, you can see all of Cuenca

A beautiful square with cubic designs where is the Mangana tower and a park. There is a cubic sculpture too. From here there are great views, it may be because of the sunstroke I suffered (there are not many shadows) but they seemed amazing. The climb may be somewhat gray for older people.

An epigraph on Calle Alcázar, which surrounds part of it, explains the history of the place: "The Plaza de Mangana is an artificially elevated platform over the centuries, nestled in the heart of Cuenca's Old Town, it is surely the place with the greatest archaeological wealth in the city. For this reason, we consider Mangana to be the heart of Cuenca. The results of archaeological excavations and the study of written sources show that the various cultures that inhabited the city throughout its history overlapped under the current plaza. In it was located the Arab fortress, the Christian palatial houses, later the Jewish Synagogue that was transformed into a parish of Santa María de Gracia. It was always an area with a large concentration of houses in Medieval and Modern times, and at the beginning of the 20th century it became a square with modernist inspiration and finally became a square with magnificent views. The walls that were once houses, churches and palaces, their ornamentation along with the ceramic elements and coins of the people who inhabited them, have waited patiently buried. Today they come to light to show us how they lived, what their streets, houses and everyday elements were like.
