Spectacular the historic architectural complex ... The Granjilla de La Fresneda was designed by Juan Bautista de Toledo on the grounds of the old town of La Fresneda. In his capacity as Royal Architect, Juan Bautista conceived it as a Closed Preserve for the recreation of Felipe II and the Jerónimos Monks of the El Escorial Monastery. Fray José de Sigüenza describes it as a park that evokes El Paraíso. Historical Complex located in a historical farm of 148 hectares. It was closely linked to the Monastery of El Escorial and was part of the so-called Great Close to Felipe II, within which were different natural and urban spaces, used by the Monarch and the monks for recreational and hunting purposes. The place has an important natural, historical and artistic heritage. In it there is a remarkable Herrerian style palace, built by order of Felipe II in the 16th century for his personal use, around which various Renaissance gardens and ponds extend, drawn with a concept very similar to that of the Casa de Campo. in the city of Madrid. The monumental complex is completed with a convent (the Casa de los Frailes and the Torre de Avendaño) and a church (San Juan Bautista, La Fresneda parish church). Currently it is private property and is used for events, weddings and for filming series and movies.

A wonderful and very special place, if you visit it you will not forget it, with all the luxuries and details to enjoy an unforgettable celebration. Its places are of fairy tales, overwhelming nature, lakes, reservoirs, ancestral altars ... A beautiful place full of history. The palace dates back to the 16th century and, during its stays, King Philip II walked through those moments in history when the sun did not shine in our empire.
