In medieval Lorca the castle, and under the protection of the Alfonsina Tower, housed the city's Jewish quarter. The excavations of this neighborhood have allowed us to know how the Jewish houses of the time were, with a rectangular floor plan, compartmentalized in rooms, and in which you can identify spaces destined for living rooms, kitchens, warehouses and other rooms that house different uses, and also Wall-mounted benches, vats, cupboards, raised bedrooms, etc. In the Jewish quarter, the Hebrews established their synagogue, an exceptional example of Jewish religious art in Spain. The temple was built underground because according to the laws of the time it could not exceed the height of the churches and this, together with the fact that it was never converted into a Christian temple, has allowed the synagogue to be preserved in an exceptional state. The Archaeological Park of the Castle of Lorca has been conceived as a space to enjoy the findings excavated in the Jewish quarter through a walk through the streets of the archaeological remains of the Jewish quarter, discover what their houses were like, their crafts and traditions, and the feeling of Jewish spirituality with the visit to its exceptional synagogue.

Unique monument in Spain, for not being desecrated by any other building. This Synagogue is located within the walls of the Fortress of the Sun. In this Synagogue there have been several pieces, unique that are found in the Archaeological Museum for its great value, located in Lorca.

Very good ride. Well preserved place and gives a very good idea of how the Jews lived at the time. To improve: that the guide knows more about Jewish culture, since it gave several incorrect data about Jewish customs and laws.
