During the month of April, my partner and I made the decision to get married. First, I phoned the Justice of the Peace to find out. Surprisingly, they told me that they could not tell me over the phone the documents that were needed to start a marriage file. As they explained to me, they have an information sheet with the necessary requirements. However, when I kindly asked them, given the confinement situation, to send me this information by e-mail or to tell me where to consult it, they did NOT do so. At all times, the only option was to go to the Justice of the Peace in person. At the end of June, with the lifting of the state of alarm, we decided to start the procedures of our file in Valencia capital, with a completely different result. There was no problem in informing us by phone. We always find proximity and facilities. Again, difficulties arose when our file was referred to the Alfafar Justice of the Peace. Seeing that the wedding date was approaching and the file had not yet been returned to the Valencia Civil Registry, I decided to go to the Alfafar Justice of the Peace Court, to learn first-hand the status of my file. As I would in any other everyday situation, I politely asked who he had the pleasure to talk to. I still remember how someone snapped at me with acrimony: "an official does not have to give his name." It is not typical of the current times to use the regulations as a “throwing weapon” against the neighbors, who are waiting for help from the officials of their town.
