Very nice church. Unique sgraffito of the facade.

It has a rectangular floor plan divided into six sections with lunettes, with side chapels, abutments and an octagonal apse, with the exterior of the wallwork, with cement and pallets; the cantons are of granite shed. The façade is Baroque of the late epoch and is decorated with an important set of graffiti. The cover is worked very carefully with marble. The arch is lowered on pilasters' imposts; In the upper body or crown there is a niche, supported by two pilasters with the inscription "Anno Domini 1753". By crowning the portal there is a sculpture of Sant Martí, worked by the artist celoní Lluís Montané. Its extraordinary facade is presumed to have the greatest sgraffiti in Europe, dating from the year 1762, with allegorical figures of virtues (Faith, Hope, Charity, Justice), Archangel, the saints Celdoni and Ermenter, music angels who They are arranged in the facade forming a baroque-style monumental altarpiece. It consists of three sections with the figures represented accompanied by many decorative elements typical of the Baroque. At the lower level, flanking the cover, there are two archangels (Saint Michael with the dragon is clearly identified) and two virtues (La Caridad y Justicia -retolada como "La buena obra" -) At the intermediate level, leaning on the cover, there are the allegories of the Faith (with a cross) and Hope (with an anchor) At the top level there are the figures of the Holy Martyrs Celdoni and Ermenter identified with inscriptions and crowded by groups of musical angels. Above all an angel stands on the globe while playing a trumpet (it is an allegory of fame). It is accompanied by two smaller angels with a miter and a bastion, characteristic attributes of St. Martin, to whom the church is dedicated. The date of accomplishment of this extraordinary set of esgrafiatsː 1762 is also seen. The eastern façade has a niche on a square doorway, dated 1682, but nowadays this portal is covered. Inside, the plant is rectangular and has a single nave, divided into six sections with lunettes. It has an octagonal apse. At the entrance to the temple there is a glass door, with the image of Sant Martí The first stone of the building was placed in 1634, on May 8, but works were paralyzed in 1638. Then, in 1655, a fire destroyed a part of the old temple of Pertegas, from so that the population remained without a skilled church, so it is not possible to continue with the church that had begun. The factory was not finished until the early 18th century. The temple opened in 1703, the main portal and the sgraffito were ready in 1753 and 1762, respectively. In 1683 the sacristy was finished, which is rectangular and has four vaults.

A baroque style site where to find peace and recollection. I played the trumpet in a celebration of the organ and the acoustics are very good. Recommended your visit!
