During the change from the nineteenth to the twentieth century the city dressed in a lot of monuments that decorated it and provided entertainment for its inhabitants. Those monuments, undoubtedly, were to be bathed in a modernist air. This is the case of this base of the statue of Daniel Carballo, designed by Pedro R. Mariño and Ortega in 1896, whose decoration is floral. The statue was made by Agustín Querol.
