Medieval jewel of San Clemente.

It is very beautiful but it is getting worse and worse

Castillo Santiago de la Torre, in the municipality of San Clemente, but very close to El Provencio (both in the province of Cuenca, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain). Built around the 11th and 12th centuries, it was ceded to the Catholic Monarchs in the 15th century, according to the website of the El Provencio City Council. In a state of ruin, it retains part of its basic infrastructure (enough to make a successful restoration possible), as any architectural layman can deduce from seeing it. Walls, walls, stairways, towers, arched doors ... that house piled up brick and stone and some preserved ornamental elements remain. It is surprising how accessible it is to any curious person who visits it beyond walking with an eye not to fall or slip among the rubble (in fact, there is no shortage of paintings that challenge its heritage value). The authorities (who have apparently reached an agreement with the heirs to protect and restore it) should at least warn of its relevance with a sign and urge passersby to preserve it. For the rest, it is surrounded by warehouses, houses and mansions, all in the middle of the immense Castilian plain.

Abandoned and practically sunk ... too bad

It's a shame that such a place ends up that way, totally left
