Nice Roman remains well restored, but such an abandoned and unknown grief ...

There are three hydraulic assemblies related to the water supply to Calagurris: the Alcanadre-Lodosa aqueduct, the La Degollada dam for agricultural use and the Sierra la Hez aqueduct. In Alcanadre there are vestiges of the aqueduct, the so-called “bridge of the Moors.” The townspeople remember the pillars that emerged and were flooded in 1940 with the construction of the dam and the revitalization of part of the aqueduct to take advantage of their ashlars for the dam . Of him there are 13 arcs of the 108 that he should have had. It is on the NA 134 road about 2km from Lodosa in the direction of Mendavia and Logroño, upstream of the Ebro. The aqueduct supplied water to Calagurris (Calahorra) through a conduction of about 30km. It dates from the end of the first century, the beginning of the second century. It captured the water in the Sierra de Codés, where the Odrón and Linares Mayor rivers are born, downstream of Lazagurría (Navarra). It is believed that the conduction would be born in the vicinity of the current dam, where remains of an old conduction have been found, would cross the Mendavia term and reach Lodosa, as the existing irrigation canalization.

It is one of the most interesting archaeological legacies of the Roman era in La Rioja, known in the area as Puente Moros. The aqueduct took its waters from the spring of the mountains of Santa Cruz de Campezo, in Álava and led them to Calahorra in a section of about 30 kilometers. Currently, there are several arches of the 108 that are thought to have originally, some semi-buried, with thick pillars, which show the solidity with which public works were built at that time carried out in the times of the emperors Trajan and Hadrian. . To access the aqueduct we can do it from the road from Lodosa to Mendavia. 2 km from the crossroads located in the center of Lodosa. The Roman aqueduct is located on the side of the road and can be seen without any problem.
