The College was founded in Pravia in 1884, after those of Gijón and Avilés. It seems that the reason was that one of the first religious of this Order (founded by Father Louis Ormières and Mother Saint Pascal), was from Pravia. For this reason, the first teaching center was located in the house occupied by the Zaragozano Bank, owned by the family of the said nun. The following year it is established in the building that today is Hotel del Busto (Casa del Busto), passing years later to Vitoria Street, to the house that today we still call "La Porrera". In 1923 and thanks to the foundation Our Lady of Carmen, created by Mrs. Carmen Miranda de Grado, widow of HE. Mr. D. Sabino Moutas - the great praviano as Vital Aza called it - again moves the College to the current building, funded by the Foundation and on donated land, likewise, by Doña Rafaela Moutas daughter of Doña Carmen. At this time the Colegio Santo Ángel acquires great prestige throughout Asturias, as evidenced by the large group of internal students it had. It was run by the Sisters of the Holy Angel Congregation of La Guarda until 1995, year in which after the march of the same, the management of the Center is assumed by the Queen Adosinda Cooperative Society.
