This Mount of the Watchtower is a totally eroded, collapsed round cinder cone that was formed during the Upper Triassic, with the dominant rock being dolerite or diabase. It dominates the entire Bay of Laredo, its Puebla Vieja, the Sports and Fishing Dock, the extensive and magnificent “children's beach” so called for its safety, is Salvé beach, the beach of the three IES: Endless / Unmatched /Inimitable. To the east you can see the Cliffs of La Lastra in the background with important deposits and a stony place, next to it are the Cliffs of El Aila and below it is its splendid El Aila beach with its caves, next to it are the Cliffs of El Secar and the Cala de El Secar "the hidden Jewel of the Cantabrian Sea", these places are dangerous to access and you have to go at low tide and with great caution, they are unique places to get lost "paradisiacal". Further west we see the Remains of the Puerto de la Soledad with its beach of dark sand and stones, the Mirador de El Túnel and the exit mouth of the Tunnel that crosses this volcanic Mount de la Atalaya ... Laredo the Paradise of the Costa Smeralda.
