Train station and hostel
pilgrims
The Deba railway station building was built in 1899,
after the arrival of the railway to the town in 1893. It is a property characteristic of industrial architecture
and railway from the end of the 19th century,
affection to the Monumental Ensemble of
Camino de Santiago with a medium degree of protection.
The Deba pilgrim hostel “Geltokia” occupies the first and second floors
of the building, space that formerly occupied the homes of employees of
the "Vascongados Railroad Company". Currently, the building is owned
of the public company Eusko Trenbide Sarea, who in 2010 ceded this space to
the Association of the Friends of the Roads to Santiago de Deba to be enabled
as a pilgrim hostel.
Not bad. But I expected more
Train station. You have to cross the roads to go to the platform towards Donostia. Do not forget to pass the card, which is at the entrance to the station and as there are no barriers you can pass.
Beautiful place, where you eat great.
