A place that does not define well what you see. I do not recommend it.

A beautiful experience to be able to visit these Arab baths.nWe did it with a guided route through the underground spaces of Toledo.nThey are well preserved and accessible.

Cenizal baths.nnAnother one of those things of Toledo very unknown, even for the toledanosnnIn case someone does not place these toilets I will say that they are in Bajada del Colegio Infantes, number 14. At about 200 meters from the Cathedral, down Pozo Amargo Street ...nnYou can visit but you have to book an appointment through the Toledo Consortium and I recommend you call and do it.nnThese bathrooms, very unknown, are located on the ground floor of this property. The bathroom or hammam consists of the entrance hall and the cold room, since the other rooms (warm room and warm room) are conserved in the adjoining houses, well, in the basement of those houses ....nnIn these bathrooms you can see the cold room in the darkness of its brick walls where there are gaps that served to leave the oils and soaps of the time ....nnAs I said, you can only visit two rooms, and as a curiosity that maybe people outside of Toledo do not understand, say that access to one of the hot rooms is cut by a built-in closet of a neighboring house.nnMaybe I miss you but it's very common in Toledo.nnThe hot room or caldarium was like a hot room equivalent to what we know today as a spa.nnThe bath in the Islamic world was a usual practice of great importance, whose custom influenced, even, in other religious groups and extending its use throughout the territory of the peninsula. There were public and private bathrooms that covered the demand of all social groups. The bathroom, therefore, became a multifunctional building, with different purposes: hygienic, religious and social.nnThe bathrooms, as I have already said, consisted of several consecutive rooms and were complemented by the access areas and services. They were constructions of thick walls and little height, of vaulted roof.nnThese baths, I insist that very unknown even for the toledanos, are declared of Cultural Interest and constitute one of the most relevant examples of the social, hygienic and religious reality of the Middle Ages in Toledo.nnI hope you like the photo of the entrance and facade that is what matters.nnHappy week.

Interesting remains of an Arab bath converted into a restaurant and exhibition center. They can be visited through the routes organized by the Toledo Consortium.
