Toledo. Palace of Justice or Provincial Court of Toledo.nA beautiful building and very seen although it goes unnoticed. Very seen because it is in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, between the City Hall and the Cathedral, and disappeared before so much beauty that surrounds it.nThis is a very curious building since some say that it is made from scraps, we leave a rest here and another piece from there ...nnThe Palace of Justice is actually a historicist building made with architectural elements from different eras.nnIn its origin it was the house occupied by the Dean of the Cathedral due to its proximity. After the confiscation of 1855 it became the Palace of Justice, pulling the entire existing building and leaving the site.n nWhen the house that served as home to the Dean of the Cathedral was demolished, works began to build this building and there were several problems since contractor José Blas Rovira was terminated for using bad quality materials in the work in 1934.nnIn origin this Palace was crowned by the shield of the II Spanish Republic because although the works began before 1931 it was basically made in the Republican era. The decorative motifs of forge and iron were the work of Julio Pascual.nnIn 1935 and when the work was stopped, it was decided to use the bail of this contractor to continue with the work but everything was stopped again due to the Spanish Civil War.nnAfter the Civil War, almost mid-century it was decided to completely remodel it; disappearing a neoclassical façade and it was decided to replace it with a façade with a Gothic façade that was in the Instituto Street and that came from the Palace of the Ayala or the Peromo ...n nA window from the Palace of the Counts of Arcos was also reused, which, like the door, is what they are today.nnI am sure that the next time you pass by there you will notice better in this building.nnHappy Friday.
