Iglesia de San Cipriano - It is cited in 1125 as a Latin parish, but the only thing that remains today of medieval times is the tower, because at the beginning of the seventeenth century the building was completely rebuilt at the expense of Carlos Venero and Leyba, canon of Toledo.nnThis one raised the temple from the foundations, enlarging it, since by its antiquity it was very ruined, and as perpetual patron it endowed it with altarpieces, ornaments and rent for its chaplains.nnThe works were carried out between 1612 and 1613, following the conditions and traces of Juan Bautista Monegro, and the work of the architect Juan de Orduña. They consisted mainly in lengthening the main chapel, adding to its sides two rooms in the manner of sacristies, for which the city ceded to Don Carlos Venero an alley that was attached to the main chapel. Two chapels were also opened at the beginning of the ship, as a cruise; the one on the side of the epistle, with a particular sacristy. This reform supposed the disappearance of the primitive head of the temple -which, like the tower, had to respond to the usual Mudejar model- and gave the building its current disposition; only modified, in 1662, when a chapel of the Virgin of Hope was added to the chapel.nnIn 1702 the nave was covered with masonry ceiling, with plaster decoration; usual reform for when the wooden roofs are in poor condition. This leads us to think of the existence of a Mudejar, pair and knuckle armor in the early church; This circumstance would be confirmed by the height difference between the interior ceiling and the roof.nnAlso for these years, in 1708, the tower was rebuilt; although respecting, in this case, the original structure. It is, as it was said, the only preserved part of medieval times. It follows the oldest model within the Toledo Mudejar towers typology, characterized by the construction of smooth walls of curved masonry and a brick upper body, intended as a belfry. In the interior the structure of square floor plan with central plinth is maintained, surrounded by the access stairs; disposition that also derives from the minarets and that is habitual in the Mudejar towers. In its primitive form it was exempt; but was incorporated into the rest of the building after the reform of the head, at the beginning of the seventeenth century. Reform that also owes the cover that is next, from which access to the atrium resulting from the incorporation of the old parish cemetery. This cover, which is repeated in which from the atrium or compass serves as entrance to the church, follows traces of Monegro and, according to F. Marías, responds to the simplification of the scheme used in San Pedro Mártir; it is reduced here to a semicircular arch, with raised ashlar masonry and shields of Don Carlos Venero in the spandrels, and to a niche between aletones, which acts as an auction.nnSource: Wikipedia
