The belfry is a volume attached to the feet of the church, which consists of three bodies separated by imposts. The parish church of Ballobar, since ancient times, has been dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin and has always belonged to the bishopric of Lérida, currently the bishopric of barbastro-Monzón. It is mentioned for the first time in August 1089, when King Sancho Ramírez gave tithes to Dalmacio, bishop of Roda (1077-1094), together with all the churches of the valley of Cinca, which were to go "to baptism to Santamaría de Monsoon".
