The Domus of the Mosaic of the Bear and the Birds, is located near the convent of the Redemptorist Fathers. It is dated between the 1st and 4th centuries AD and correspond to the remains of a house belonging to high-ranking citizens. The building, on one level, had various rooms around various patios and mosaics with allegorical scenes of autumn and the myth of Orpheus. In 2016, another great noble house from the Roman era was discovered in the center of Astorga, where large mosaics and fragments of the statue of a faun with triangular ears and protuberances on the forehead have been found. All this shows, together with the walls, the importance of the Roman presence in Astorga.
