For me, one of the most beautiful churches in the country. Naked, with little ornaments and a single ship, very spacious. The feeling inside is simply extraordinary. Huge and colossal, but severe, with simple lines taking off all the way around. By the way, excellent indoor lighting.

On the town of Balaguer and on the hill to the right of the River Segre, the parish church of Santa Maria stands, which gives the city a distinctive and unmistakable silhouette. It is a very large single-sided building, with side chapels located between the buttresses and with a six-sided polygonal apse. The cover of the nave and the apse is made of vaulted vaults, which support, by means of toral arches, on columns attached to the nave or on the capitals of the apse. Each of the sections of the deck corresponds to two chapels per side, with the exception of the bell tower, with a vault. Three of these chapels serve as hallways to three portalades that have the church, one on the western wall, and one on each side of the nave. The interior, illuminated by five windows placed in the apse and five cubicles in the central nave. It is a building with simple and compact shapes, especially outside where, apart from the large buttresses, the structure of the bell tower only stands out. This is prismatic, octagonal (with an inner spiral staircase), it is divided into four cornice blocks, and has a floor of windows with a semicircular arch on the fourth level. The entire set has been the object of consolidation works, among which we can emphasize the recent incorporation of metallic structures to unload the weight of the vaults.
