Great and light hike. The trail is easy and short even if you leave on foot from Altea. Just make sure to chosse a shady day.nnThe place is phenomenal. It is not a well preserved structure and that's exactly what makes it so special. It's mystical and epic at the same time. There ar usually not many people, so you will most likely be alone there. And if you are like most explorers at heart you will have a blast.

Beautiful walk around the Sierra de Bernia, shame about mist at southern side of cave, but behind the fort some stunning views

Great walk up from the Pinos direction. Not at all difficult but some of the best mountain views I have ever seennThe fort is a collection of stone ruined arches, not so much, but that isn't why you come here. You can carry on round the mountain and come back to where you started, which is a bit harder, but still not a demanding walk.
