This Convent of La Canal is located in Vega de Villafufre. It was ordered to be built and was founded by Don Domingo Herrera de la Concha y Miera (born in Villafufre at the end of the 16th century) on a plot of his property. In the attached photos you can see a kneeling statue of the founder, who worked for the Count Duke of Olivares and was usher to Felipe IV. It is in the Baroque style and the cloister has a square plan, very very simple. At the entrance (see photo) there is a large stone shield stamped by a helmet, with two eight-pointed stars on the sides and with the arms of Herrera, Miera and Concha.
