Latin cross floor building, with two floors in the main body and four heights in the tower. Of masonry almost all the building, only uses ashlars surrounding the bays and in the corners; It has a gable roof with tile. The square clock tower is topped by a zinc dome. The main facade presents on the first floor an access door framed in large ashlars. The tower, in addition to the two heights already described, which correspond to the main door and the small semicircular opening, has a clock on the top floor. It has a molded stone cornice on which rests a zinc dome with a bell in the upper area and a metal framework as a handrail. The rear façade has two barred windows and is surrounded by ashlars on the first floor, while on the second floor there are two openings with iron sills and polychrome lintel. The lateral facades are practically of equal invoice, with three windows surrounded by sillares and lattices. nnHistorical facts:nnIn 1881 Fermín García Escalada, a native of the Colsa neighborhood (Pomaluengo) and patron of the work, returned from Havana and became a rich man. The initial cost of the work was expected at 36,000 reais, which with some additions would reach a total of 40,000 reais, not counting the cost of the clock and the bell of the tower. The building would contain in addition to the classrooms for the kids a space reserved for the teacher's house. The initiative arose before the precariousness of the facilities that the valley had for this purpose, whose original location was in a hanging that was on the south side of the Collegiate Church of Santa Cruz.nIn 1858, by municipal initiative, another school of infantile education for girls with a budget of 1,660 real annuals was established, contributed by the city council moving in the second decade of the century to a place on the atrium of the mentioned church.
