Both buildings, the pazo and the convent, form an architectural complex of great value, which has been declared a Historic-Artistic Monument.nThe building of the pazo is dated before that of the convent. The first was built in the 16th century, while the convent was built in the 17th century, at the request of Fernando de Andrade Soutomaior y Caamaño.

Manor House and Convent of Vista Alegre - Vilagarcia de ArousannSurely you know the legend about the tunnel that connects Monte Lobeira with the Vista Alegre Convent .... It is said that there was a tunnel that connected the old fortress located on Monte Lobeira with the convent located in the Pazo de Vista Happy, they say, thanks to Doña Urraca resisted the attack of the fortress when they were besieged since they could go down to Vilagaracia to stock up on supplies through the tunnel.nnBut what few know is that in 2009, some excavators working on the construction of the access road to the port of Vilagarcia encountered something unexpected in the O Piñeiriño neighborhood ... an old water mine that was heading to the convent of Vista Alegre and that, according to experts, would be at least the seventeenth century, although there are documents that speak of its existence during the sixteenth and even fifteenth centuries.nnThe connection stretches for more than a kilometer several meters deep and connects the slopes of Monte Lobeira with the Vista Alegre convent.nnTechnicians from the Xunta de Galicia and staff from the Diocese of Compostela were inside, confirming that the structure, almost intact, except for the collapse caused by the action of the excavator, is made entirely of stone, is domed and in his interior it fits, comfortably a person of average stature.nnThe nuns of the convent did not know with certainty of its existence, but they have, since they remember, had access to a fresh water mine that gushed out from inside the old tunnel. Currently the convent is connected to the municipal water network.nnThe old mine was not listed in the register of the Culture Council nor was there reliable evidence of its existence. At the time of the discovery, the nuns began procedures to protect the site.nInfo via Vigo Lighthouse.nnRegarding the Vista Alegre Convent:nnThe building is located in the city center, next to the pazo that bears the same name, the Pazo Vista Alegre. Both buildings, the pazo and the convent, form an architectural ensemble of great value, which has been declared a Historic-Artistic Monument.nnThe building of the pazo is dated before the convent. The first was built in the 16th century, while the convent was built in the 17th century, at the wish of Fernando de Andrade Soutomaior y Caamano.nnThe enclave in which the convent was built was the same one in which an old chapel had previously existed, consecrated to Saint Christopher.nnThe convent was originally built to be inhabited by the Order of the Augustinian Recollect Sisters, and was connected to the pazo by means of a large arch that communicates them.nnIt should be noted that the pazo used to have one more tower than we can see today, and that, in the seventeenth century, having suffered partial destruction, it was removed and transferred to the conventnn#VilagarciaDeArousa # RíasBaixas #Galicia #VisitaGalicia #Spain #VisitSpain

Too bad you can only visit the church that by the way has a beautiful dome. But the place is beautiful. Good place to walk in Vilagarcia.

Beautiful and endearing place to visit and see. With children because there is a park and a CC nearby.
