If they sell old, used bikes they should tell you about it and give you an alternative. In another bike shop they showed me that it can easily tested by putting force on the pedal while it stands and if the chain springs it is broken. The bikes come without any accessoires and you have to buy everything else. The best is if you bring it from home like: Lamps, splash guard, porter for your luggadge, porter for a flask, ...... I really can't recomend this shop.
