A fortified hermitage with gothic elements. These features make it very special in these latitudes.nnOn August 15 at 11 am, it is the only day of the year that a mass is celebrated in this small building.nnIt is a good time to visit it and climb up the narrow spiral staircase to its top and enjoy a spectacular view of El Prat.

Fortified Hermitage of Santa María de la Asunción.Very well preserved and restored.nnExcellent sample and witness of the frequent attacks of Berber pirates what was suffering east Levantine coast.nnPeople not only used it as a place of worship but also, as a refuge, at the foot of the Castle.

It would be nice if people who come from abroad to spend the weekend or a couple of days could visit it. Too bad they are so strict in terms of opening hours and dates.
