The more than 3,000 years of Ethiopian history is symbolized by the LION OF JUDAH. A symbol used used to show the kings power and might. The statute is a symbol of such glorious achievement.
Exciting, adventurous, intriguing.
The monument of the Lion of Judah is a statue of the Lion of Judah, symbol of Ethiopian Emperors and located in the square of the railway station in Addis Ababa, and marks the end of Winston Churchill Avenue.
The sculpture of the Lion of Judah, in gilded bronze, is placed on a black granite pedestal decorated with relief portraits of Menelik II, Haile Selassie I, Zewditu, and ras Makonnen Wolde Mikael. The work was made by the French sculptor Georges Gardet in 1930, on the occasion of the coronation of Emperor Hailé Selassié on November 2,1930.
Nice you should go and see it
Unexpected stay in Ethiopia when our flight got delayed and we made our way here. The statue sits where a restaurat has sprung up.. the staff are beautiful, friendly people and we had some delicious authentic Ethiopian food- Injera...get it...and ask for everything on it.
