The National Palace is a palace in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is also known as the Jubilee Palace. The palace was built in 1955 to mark the Silver Jubilee of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie. After a coup attempt in the Guenete Leul Palace in 1960, the Emperor made the Jubilee Palace his main residence. In 1974 The Derg (military council) renamed the Palace the "National Palace", which it still bears today. With the fall of the Derg, and the proclamation of the Federal Republic, the Jubilee Palace became the official residence of the President of the FDRE. The Ethiopian Government has announced its intention to build a new official presidential residence. The National Palace will then be opened as a museum.

Definitely a magnificent place you can admire from the street, I wasn’t aware of any tours and I didn’t bother to ask, I also didn’t take photos cause I wasn’t sure of Ethiopian law about such matters.

Don't approach the Palace, don't look at it, don't walk on the same side of the street as it, don't take pictures of it, don't talk to it, try not to smell the flowers near it - forget it's existence. As far as the military would have you believe - there's nothing there so move along please.
