Ziquala near Sekota is a very remote village bordering onto the Tekeze reservoir. The access track is seldom used by more than five vehicles per day, instead the locals prefer to use camels. To cross over the Tekeze river EEPCO the owners of the hydropower station have dedicated ferry crossing points and an upstream bailey bridge for the occasional vehicle, thereafter the river flows through a remarkable crocodile infested canyon. The canyon itself is a photographers paradise, in some places the canyon now forms part of the Tekeze reservoir. Be warned this areas is exceedingly hot, there are no shops and back up is non existent when one is travelling in this area rest up during the early afternoon and be entirely self sufficient.
