Ethiopia Traditions Travel Addis

If you want to visit Ethiopia but do part of what you agreed, it’s the right agency. I travel a lot and use agencies and lived 18 years in Africa (Madagascar). And it’s the first time I see such a bad customer oriented agency. It’s very hard to get the manager on the phone and the personnel in the agency is very rude. We are almost always in the dark of what’s coming next. We had many issues over the 2 weeks travel and had to change our plans almost every day. The agency even organized a day that wasn’t possible to do due to time and charge us 2 visits we couldn’t do. They never agreed to even do a commercial gesture to propose another visit to compensate the 2 we couldn’t do. We wish we would have organized ourselves the trip!

Saddly, after a wonderful experience with the guide who even introduced us to his family, the bill written by the manager was totally unclear but clearly dishonest. After having adapted the programme to the time schedule of our field research and our budget, the final bill was higher even if we almost reduced by two the list of services (3days car rent+3.5 days with a guide+4 night in two bedrooms and campsite=1590€). We agreed with the guide to divide by two the number of nights in hotels and the number of days with him. However, the company managed to make us pay more... pretending that we had more service even if at the end it was the exact oposite. I didn’t pay the whole bill at the beginning because exaggerated correspondingly with our mission there. I clearly asked for less services the very first day, as the tour operator thought that we were there for tourism purposes and needed a guide everyday. 3 days were enough but we had to pay the same price. Furthermore we had to pay hotels by ourselves because of the late organisation of the company. Ridiculous justifications were mentioned, such as a supplementary day by car for a simple transfer between two neighbour cities(from Bahir Dar to Zege, 130€ for 30min!!!), a supplementary afternoon on a boat (the only justified reason), or even the rent of a pot in a camping site. After negotiating in front of a wall, I had the choice between leaving like a thief or to feel robbed. Anyway, because of Ethiopia Traditions Travel Tour, I left this beautiful country mad and with empty pockets.

A beautiful trip on the Historical Route of the Highlands of Abyssinia, thanks to the kindness and the seriousness of our French-speaking guide Metasebia, smiling, available and attentive, knowing well the history ade his country, and lover of nature .. A big thank you for this unforgettable evening in an Azmaribet with its magnificent dancers. Thanks also to Salomon, our driver for his seriousness, his calm and his good humor. Good general organization, with a reservation however: I for my part would have preferred hotels with less stars! but more charm ..
