Selassie Church of Mekelle is a land mark to the old city and a very important Ethiopian Orthodox Church. Situated on the rift between the main road that Runs from Quiha to the downtown Mekelle and Mekelle University, its quite an impressive church with a good architecture and green environment. The cliff to the east and south east side of the church has some bee farms operated by local dwellers. The compound of the church has a green flat land for believers to sit and attend the church ceremony. Part of the compound also serves as a burial place for the church followers. Many tombs can be seen from distance.
