We did 8-days trekking in the Bale Mountains with climbing up to Tullu Dimtu (4377m). The landscape is altogether breathtaking, we gained a great insight into the Ethiopian mountain world, which differs considerably from our home There are also great wildlife experiences, especially the rare endemic Wolves, but also many bird life , birds of prey and antelopes such as Mountain Nyala. We spent every night in the tent. It’s very cold but a warm sleeping bag was given to us so we survived the cold. The hike is definitely worth it just because of the spectacular views. In addition, you also get a very good insight into the lifestyle of the people living there - and thus also in the problems there. Many people have settled in the park and the wildlife population has decreased. Our impression was also that grazing takes place to a considerable extent. The people who live there, of course, are bitterly poor and just try to somehow find their livelihood up there. We had a pretty nice group and a very nice guide with us, who knew a lot and enjoyed talking to all of us.
