Stunning views and definitely worth the hike, though difficult to find - follow the cactus lined path downhill, then up to the church gates, unbolt the door yourself. Entry fee to the church at the top is 100 Birr, though they will ask for more. Monk will let you inside the church for no extra fee.

Though the landscape is beautiful from the top of the church, the greedy monk asked me to pay 200 birr for entry ticket though I was ready for 100 birr. At the tourist information centre, it was informed that 100 birr is the entry ticket for this. So I returned back without looking inside the small church on the top of the small mountain.

So we arrive and because we were w/o an Ethiopian guide the entrance jumped from 100 (M)/75(F) to 200 each. We had no other choice than pay. So my girlfriend could not get to the top (not only enter the monastery but take the stairs)... and was asked for more money (she had already paid 200 birrs to see the woman church) to see the view from the kids over there... I am unsure where the values of my Christian religion have gone here... I understand we as foreigners should pay more but this has gone beyond ridiculous and disrespectful... I’m sad for Ethiopia. And yes the view up there is astonishing
