White House Addis Hotel

The staff very helpfull and room awesome clean and with high quallity materiales . It was wonderfull time. I hope come back again.

Great hotel, great location and hidden from everything. The owners and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the hotel has a shuttle service to and from the airport, you can rent a car with a driver at the hotel hotel for those who want to do site seeing inside Addis or outside. Reasonable prices, rooms are very spacious with own toilets, fast wifi and good food.

Verry noice inside the hotel, shuttle was an issue, photos of rooms do not look like the real situation. Better choose for the same money a different hotel in the real center of Bole Addis Ababa. Btw breakfast/food en employees were nice.

We planned on staying at this hotel for 1-2 weeks with my family. After check-in we went into our rooms to find both rooms had dirty floors, dead bugs on the window ledges, the drapes were dusty/dirty, dirty bathroom and towels, and when we pulled the bed comforter and sheets back we found human hair and small stains on the sheets. This was the same for both rooms and beds. It appeared as if the beds were made, but sheets were never changed/washed after the previous guests. We notified hotel staff and advised them of the issues. We informed that we would find other accommodations and no longer wanted to stay at the hotel. The staff contacted the "owner" of the hotel who refused to address the issues and stated even though we were at the hotel for 20 mins, we had to pay $110 (USD) in order to leave the hotel. The owner refused to speak to us to resolve the situation and told the staff not to let us leave the hotel until we paid. The security guard blocked our vehicle and driver in the parking lot while we were talking to the front desk staff. We felt like we were being taken advantage of by this hotel. The security staff was hostile and rude, we felt trapped as foreigners in this city and ultimately paid the money so they would let us leave. When we got to the next hotel (which was a great experience) after we left we were told by the new hotel management that what the White House Hotel did was against Ethiopian law to charge us a full nights stay for 20 min in the room. We have been to Ethiopia several times and have found the culture, people and experiences rewarding. However, on this visit this episode with the hotel staff almost ruined our trip. I normally do not write negative reviews but the experience with the White House Hotel was so bad that I felt compelled to inform the traveling public. I do not recommend this hotel.
