Fantastic museum with an immersive travel in time. We visited the museum and had a fantastic guide who was able to tell the stories that made the history of Toulouse. Meticulous explanations, anecdotes, fun facts: this is how culture and histrory remains alive and relevant. This is kept by volunteers with a true passion of the city.

This is indeed a little treasure and one which should not be missed by anyone visiting Toulouse. It is situated in the wonderfully charming Hotel Dumay, down a charming little street, a five-minute walk from the Capitole. It contains a huge amount of miscellaneous items relating to the history Toulouse, such as photos, costumes, books, paintings furniture, and many other interesting artefacts. The rooms are small and quaint but can still take quite a bit of time to get around, due to the diversity of they items displayed within. The building itself, surrounding a quaint courtyard, is quite lovely. Dating back to the 16th century, it was built for the renowned physician of the time, Antoine Dumay, who was the doctor of Margaret de Valois, wife of King Henry iv of France. There is a large room off of the courtyard which, from time to time, is used as an exhibition space. The staff were all wonderful and hugely welcoming. They appeared to be local volunteers and could not do enough to help.

Gorgeous old building holds wealth of historically illustrative Toulouse paintings through ages. A few feeble.exhibits greatly outnumbered by generally fascinating and well explained stuff - mix of maps and paintings used as historical documents. Would benefit from more of the old house being opened up to the public - what about the ground floor, cellar and 2nd floor?
