Church of Saint-Etienne de Clairoix, north-east of Compiègne, dating from the beginning of the 13th century. The deep and numerous changes over the centuries no longer allow us to reconstruct with certainty the evolution of the building. Commemorative plaque of the 5th centenary (1930) recalling the passage of Joan of Arc in Clairoix just after her capture by the Burgundians on May 23, 1430 in Margny and delivered to Jean II de Luxembourg-Ligny (Jehan de Luxembourg), who detained in her home until May 28. Locked up in the Château de Beaulieu-les-Fontaines (formerly Beaulieu-en-Vermendois) for several months (1st failed escape attempt). Then transferred far from the fighting to the Chateau de Beaurevoir (seriously injured in a 2nd failed escape attempt). Sold to the English on November 21, 1430 for 10,000 pounds. Led to Rouen in a tower of the castle under guard and entrusted to Bishop Pierre Cauchon, ally of the English, for a heresy trial to discredit the King of France Charles VII (1403-1461), consecrated in Reims on July 17, 1429
