Église Saint-Pierre

I stayed not too far from this church and always noticed the pure lines of its impressive façades and most notably the unfinished right tower! This neo-gothic architecture is one spectacular building that I've visited in Nancy. Noticed the statue of Saint Peter enshrined above the clock. Completed in the late 1800, the entire façades and the interior are breathtakingly stupendous! Inside, the entire congregation is moved to the transept area near the high altar. The entire nave, except for the right nave use as access to the service congregation, is fenced off with steel mesh fences. You can still see the nave but can't enter. The transepts, high altar, side altars are absolutely stunning with tall lancet windows covered with spectacular stained-glass. The organ gallery can only be viewed in full from the transept area, and there's a stunning rose stained-glass window hovering above it. Absolutely worth visiting. There's other churches scattered around the old city of Nancy but this one and Notre Dame de Bonsecours are worth seeing away from the city centre. This district is intriguing as it's surrounded by three major hospital, university campus and rehabilitation services. Saint Peter's Church strikes out as it contrasts the urban environment surrounding it. The church opens its doors to visit on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 2pm to about 4 or 6pm, worth checking on the church door for opening and closing days. Ten out of ten experience for me!
