There are some gîtes on the camino where the facilities are simple, but kept with love and carefulness and I‘d never give them a bad review - but then there‘s THIS. The building of this gîte is beautiful, the location and therefore the view out of the window are lovely BUT I strongly recommend to all the pilgrims NOT to stay here. The host is very clearly in the wrong business, for he runs this gîte like a cash cow. We paid 17€ to sleep in a cheap bed with throw away paper sheets, then we had breakfast for 5€ that consisted only of bread, industrially produced jam and cake plus old butter that smelled worse than the clothes we couldn‘t wash (despite there being a washing machine). And we had to clean our own plates afterwards as well. Look, there‘s just a general lack of care and you don‘t feel welcome or taken care of at all. So: Don‘t let your stay in this beautiful town be spoiled by staying at the Gîte du Pont Vieux.
