I go to this church regularly, most often outside office, after work, since I returned to Valenciennes almost 17 years ago. It is a place of peace for the mind, so many souls in prayers are spent in this place, as we only pass there during our stay on earth but I can never help but think of these few words when I sit there: >

A superb church, especially in its interior architecture, with its wooden vault and its abstract stained glass windows in yellow ocher tones. The twilight that reigns there is particularly conducive to meditation and prayer. The very modern Way of the Cross is powerful in its suggestiveness. A great place to meet God.

Located in the center of the city, rue de Paris, this church is surrounded by a small park with a fountain. It is entirely in brick. It has a larger choir, in brick and white stone. The bell tower placed on the side of the choir is made of stone. It has openings at the bells and ends with a rooster. The interior has been completely renovated. The church is dedicated to Saint Géry, a bust of which is visible inside. At the entrance is a monument to the dead. The church has only a few statues, we notice a beautiful Saint Joseph. While awaiting the restoration of the Notre Dame du Saint Cordon basilica, this church houses the statue of the latter.
