MAC VAL Museum

Well worth the visit! A little bit far from Paris but still easy and fast to reach. Friendly staff!

Super interesting Contemporary Art Museum in a "communist" quartier. The Personna Grata temporary exhibit was mixed, with some amazing pieces and, as usual, some not so great. But what really impresses is the room's large volumes that provide generous light and space to the artwork. The little garden is full of charming statues, fountain, and a waterfall.

Great museum but visit with a guide otherwise you will be disappointed.

You have to wonder why they put one of the few contemporary art museums in Paris in a poor, ethnic suburb. The conceptual art they have is not something the neighbors would want to see and spending money on such stuff in a poor district is questionable. Moreover, while the space is great, most walls are empty. Is there really the need to have a giant room for one ridulous "sculpture" of five green overcoats on a rack? It would be better to dedicate this museum to art the residents can appreciate. While the persona non grata exhibit is interesting in an intellectual sense, it is not very approachable for people who lived through immigration. The best part is the park around the museum, which the residents do use.
