The Saint-Jean-L’Evangéliste church in Sossais was built in the 12th century and then taken over in the 15th and 16th centuries. The apse remains of the original building, the flamboyant Gothic portal, from the 15th century, located to the west and sheltered by a canopy, has been inscribed by the M.H. since 1937. The transformations of the 15th and 16th centuries, like the restorations of the 19th century, have preserved the Roman aspects of the building. Even if the apse would benefit from being cleared of the buildings which surround it, this church is well highlighted, especially when you arrive from the south side. It is a welcoming church, you have to take the keys at the town hall to be able to visit it. A modest but charming church. The bell tower, the most recent part (16th-17th centuries) has a clock and a sundial.
