If you want to come and live in a peaceful town, avoid Rivesaltes at all costs! At least the city center! Super noisy city, it looks like a civil war! Between the trucks, karcher and motorbike that goes by like on the 24 hour circuit, and all that at 5 am, you might think that a mower is on under your bed. And I'm not talking about the manhole covers which every time someone walks over them, makes it look like a dynamite explosion! Let's not talk about the neighborhood, it looks like a daycare has moved into your next room, music and film at full blast until 4-5am, the whole neighborhood benefits ... You then have the drunk people who roam all night long. On top of that add the neighbors who spy on you from their windows and take a picture of you, and yes, putting the flash at night is not discreet 😉 I was going to forget about household garbage, no recycling put out by the glasses, having to travel 20 km to put this waste ... Otherwise quite cute city and very well placed geographically, 2 minutes from the motorway and ditto from the airport 👌🏼 Goodbye Rivesaltes we have decided to move after only 3 months here 🏡 Without hard feelings.

The town hall has a style of a beautiful little castle 🏰 With a beautiful rectangular frontal esplanade ❤️

I was very shocked to find no sign indicating the Rivesaltes camp. And even more of the will of the mayor to hide this place of memory where so many tens of thousands of people have been locked up in terrible conditions. I was a teacher and as a history teacher I always tried to tell my students how France mistreated the Spanish Republicans, the Jews, the Gypsies and the Harkis ... Apart from the Germans who died there also excluding SS and war criminals. The absence of signs is therefore an absolute shame. Never again will I drink a drop of Rivesaltes wine. Unless signposts are finally installed.

Very nice development. Excellent choice of the great Jubea chilensis near the entrance accompanied by several Phoenix canariensis (canary date palms) and even some Phoenix dactylifera ("classical" date palms) apparently. Congratulations
