Eglise Saint-Nicolas

A remarkable building. Outwardly magnificent, it imposes; its facade, which I find austere is the oldest in Angoumois and the bedside is splendid. But if the interior impresses with massive columns and ancient architecture, I was disappointed with the general condition. Attacked by humidity, the leprous look shocked the visitor. This monument would deserve a drastic humidity treatment program if such treatment exists. There are few carved decorations inside, the columns and other elements had to be painted. Remember to take the passage on the other side of the road to see the lantern of the dead of Cellefrouin.
