I have to say that some of the work looks like the scribbling of a five year old, but most of it is really good, and very varied. The man at the door was very friendly and a helpful, and made every effort to make sure we saw what was there despite him and us not sharing a common language... Worth the trek out to see

This is a very interesting museum. The art comes from people who come from the edges of society, so the real interest is in reading the stories behind each artist. Having a good hold of written French might help out a lot though. In my estimation, the best part of the museum is behind the garden where you can see the artist workshop, which is preserved, and a collection of his finest work. There is a book in the bookshop that is on the inside of the museum that is worth checking out if you can read good French. The books there will help you have a greater understanding of what you're looking at.

Art Brut is a fascinating movement of art that goes beyond what you would find in contemporary art galleries. The artists highlighted here, were not only restricted to the materials available to them, but actually had something to communicate. They came from a variety of marginalised backgrounds that brought unique perspectives and unorthodox techniques to the world of art.

An exceptional place that I highly recommend because I took my 4-year-old granddaughter there who discovered what a museum was by wandering through rooms where all kinds of colorful works have amazed and amazed her !!!
