Taverne Henri IV

I am from England I was with a japonese friends in paris last january. We went to this « taverne » The waiter was rude. And everything was dirty. Don’t stop here if you want to drink or eat. Stop if you want to poo or pee.

Obviously a tourist spot. Friendly guy behind the bar with a great attitude. Classically French style and menu.

Real tourist trap! We ordered onion soup, which turned out to be worst, that we’ve ever had. The prices are horrendous. We would not recommend anyone to go to this place.

Words cannot express how upset I am regarding the subpar quality of this Cafe. I wanted hot chocolate and asked the waiter multiple times in French whether the hot chocolate was from powdered chocolate or real chocolate, and his response was that it was real chocolate, that "they make it here". The price tag of 8.30 EUR for a glass was on the pricey side, but I was willing to order one--and what came out was 100% powdered chocolate with 4 oz of liquid and 2 oz of foam. Not only did the waiter lie, the drink was also mediocre. As mentioned in other reviews, this is a rip off, you are paying for the view, and the subpar drinks and aloof attitude of the waiter are not worth the outrageous cost.

This place was recommended for lunch by a French friend of mine now living in Ireland. Yes he moved from sunny France, so this act is questionable but, his recommendation is not. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly owner whose name I forget, sorry but photo below, simple Parisian food, in a small quaint oldy world with lots of wood bar, restaurant. A great place for lunch and glass of wine before continuing with you day. And the owner speaks perfect English.
