My young friend was attacked on the Metro. As advised we went to the prefecture to 'porter pleinte'. The people at the reception desk are condescending. They are fine, actually, if you have no questions. But apparently there is an unspoken rule about not asking questions. We waited an hour and 40 minutes to get in to see an officer, and once we were with him, he was gracious, polite, helpful and very patient. So I would provide half a star rating for reception, 4 stars for the officer.
I went there for a Home Jacking attempt. I was very well received. They found the guy (who probably won't get anything since Justice won't do his job).

Better experience in a police station for me. I went there with a theft complaint and the reception was excellent, very little wait, people smiling, kind and cordial. An example
1 night there, the price was reasonable (it was free). private bathroom with a view of the hallway than you could ask for. For the bedding, we will iron the concrete caressing your back when the plea does not scratch you, not to mention the deplorable service I had to wait 7 hours before my order arrives (a simple glass of water).
