Saint-Ambroise is a station on line 9 of the Paris metro, located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. The station is located under Boulevard Voltaire, northwest of the outlet of Rue Saint-Ambroise. Oriented along a north-west / south-east axis, it is inserted between the Oberkampf and Voltaire stations. The station opened on December 10, 1933 with the entry into service of the extension of line 9 from Richelieu - Drouot to Porte de Montreuil. It owes its name to its proximity to rue Saint-Ambroise on the one hand and Saint-Ambroise church on the other hand, which pay homage to Ambroise of Milan (340-394), bishop of Milan from 374 to 397, born in Trier (Germany) and whose father was Prefect of Gaul. The church was rebuilt following a decree of January 24, 1863 during the modernization of the newly created Saint-Ambroise district. At the end of the 1990s, the station was chosen by the RATP to test the prototypes of the main lighting model which will be deployed on the platforms of many other stations renovated as part of the “Espace Métro 2000” operation, by the suite entitled “Renouveau du métro” then “Un métro + beau”. In 1998, it thus became the first in a series of 273 to eventually benefit from components. However, its corridors were not modernized until December 20, 2005. In 2011, 2,758,716 travelers entered this station. In 2012, there were 2,784,381 travelers, then 2,780,473 travelers in 2013, which places it in the 196th position of metro stations for its use out of 302. Ambrose of Milan or Saint Ambrose (in Latin Aurelius Ambrosius), born in Augusta Treverorum in the Roman Empire (today Trier) in 339 and died on April 4, 397, is bishop of Milan from 374 to 397. Doctor of the Church, he is one of the four Fathers of the Western Church, along with Saint Augustine, Saint Jerome of Stridon and Saint Gregory the Great. He is known as a writer and poet, quasi-founder of the Latin Christian hymnody and reader of Cicero and the Greek Fathers, from which he takes up the allegorical methods of interpretation. He is also one of the protagonists of the debates against Arianism. It was with him that Augustine of Hippo (Saint Augustine) converted to Christianity. He is honored as a saint by the Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church, which celebrate him today on December 7, the feast of the translation of his relics. In the Middle Ages, his main feast took place either on April 4, the date of his death, or on December 7, the date of his episcopal ordination (Roman Martyrology).

Very good place Good place, excellent location, they have train and bus service, parking lot and it is signposted. It has boards of schedules of exits of the meters. Good facilities and the staff inside the station is very friendly when it comes to serving, it also has ticket issuing machines, which facilitate the purchase of tickets, although the navigo card is valid in this sector.
