Awesome free car park and ideal for walking the Central Beacons. Usually start here for the horseshoe walk or trip up to the Diving Board on Fan y Big. Get there early though as it does get busy. A lot of works at the reservoir going on during last visit, so plan your walk carefully.
Beautiful to visit, I am so luck to live an hour away from the Brecon Beacons. It's always better to arrive early as the views are stunning but people start arriving and car parks get full. I tried to walk from up from Talybont reservoir to Pen Yr Fan but the weather was terrible and low cloud. So i drove down and walk up the side of Talybont reservoir on the Taff trail. Beautiful views, clean, safe but low cloud. You don't need to leave this country to have Alpinic views, we have loads in Wales. A point of note.... I still see families wondering about the mountains with no idea how dangerous it is. If your going to visits, plan, tell people your route, when your expected back, carry water lots of it, spare warm clothing, don't wonder off the tracks, only walk if the weather is nice. Sorry had to get that in. Be safe, the kids don't want to be in the SAS so short and sweet . Enough of the lessons just be safe is it's a great place to visit.👍👍
Great place to start the walk up to fan y big/ diving board, it's very scenic and easy to follow.
Car park is free. Plus there's another car park just before that incase that ones full up.

Excellent views, good trails and if you enjoy the outdoors and climbs you can get to pen y fan from here
