The photos just don't do this place any justice. The well established gardens are so beautifully maintained and there's so much insect life around it was so wonderful taking my small children to explore all the ruins and, what felt like, secret paths. It's easy to get lost wandering through the garden paths and if you're not in a rush, stop and have a sit at one of the many benches available. The toilets are very clean and the tea room was also very clean and very well priced. I would like to know a few things that came to mind whilst walki g around: if there are any garden game tournaments at the grounds? Or if we could bring our own garden games? Are picnics allowed, we didn't see any picnics whilst we were walking through, although it was later in the afternoon that we went... Is the funds generated only for the gardens or does the house benefit at all from the entrance fee? A really lovely afternoon out with the whole family.

Visited the gardens today, first time this year. Beautiful gardens, so many varieties of trees, flower beds, formal and informal. Redesigned tea rooms feel spacious. Very welcoming staff. It's our quiet go -to place and we always come away relaxed...and with another salvia plant!! Thank you all for your hard work keeping the gardens so interesting.

First time here with the kids and straight after they were allowed to reopen. Upon entry we thought it might be a little small but was pleasantly surprised to find its about right for a few hours walking and exploring. The gardens are wonderfully well maintained, with perfect lawns and interesting pieces here and there. Lots of space for the kids to run around, though its not tailored to attract kids , no kids trails or playgrounds. (Pick up a map on entry) No picnics allowed in the gardens which is a shame, but you can picnic just outside in the car park area.

Another lovely day here! We are local and just love popping to the gardens and tea room. Always something different to see each season.

Great little garden with a specialist Salvia nursery. Nice food, teas, coffee and cakes in the well stocked tea room. Free entry for RHS Members. No dogs , which was fine by me.
